Australian Market Report of July 29: US Consumer Confidence Falls

  Sydney, Australia, July 29, 2009 - (ABN Newswire) - US stocks closed flat overnight after a weaker-than-expected survey on consumer confidence. The Conference Board reported its confidence index fell to 46.6 from 49.3 in June, primarily due to a worsening job market. Australian shares yesterday extended their gains. At the close, the benchmark S & amp;P/ASX200 rose 29.9 points, or 0.7 per cent, at 4169.
